At the last council elections, the Liberal Democrats made a series of pledges that would place housing at the top of the city's agenda. Here, we look back at three years of delivering on the house promises we made. Thu 6th May 2010: The polls are open today between 7am and 10pm for you to cast your vote. Remember, you do not need your polling card to vote. Mon 3rd May 2010: It's a clean sweep - bookies confirm Lib Dems set to win here. Liberal Democrats in Edinburgh North & Leith have reacted with delight to the news that all thirteen principal UK bookmakers and betting exchanges now make the Lib Dems the favourites to win a historic victory on Thursday. Fri 30th Apr 2010: Undecided voters swing to Lib Dems following final Leaders Debate. Last night was the final of the three televised Leaders' debates. Leader of the Liberal Democrats, Nick Clegg, debated with Gordon Brown and David Cameron about the economy. Subjects discussed included breaking up the banks, creating more jobs and reinvigorating the British economy. Wed 28th Apr 2010: Third and Final Party Leaders' TV debate: The Economy. On Thursday 29th April from 8.30pm, BBC One will host the final live Prime Ministerial Debate of the General Election from the Midlands. Nick Clegg, Gordon Brown and David Cameron will again be going head to head in the run up to the General Election next Thursday. Tue 27th Apr 2010: Nick Clegg visits Edinburgh North and Leith. Liberal Democrat leader Nick Clegg visited Edinburgh North and Leith yesterday (Monday 26 April) as part of his general election tour, to campaign for a better deal for our armed services, and to emphasise that Liberal Democrats are poised for a historic win in the constituency. Mon 26th Apr 2010: Bookies make Edinburgh North and Leith "too close to call". Following Nick Clegg's commanding performances in the televised leaders' debates, and a sustained rise in Liberal Democrat support across the country, bookmakers have slashed the odds on a historic Lib Dem win in Edinburgh North and Leith. Don't forget to complete and return your postal vote! Over 10,000 people have an opportunity to vote for change in Edinburgh North & Leith as postal votes arrive through letterboxes over the next two days. Fri 23rd Apr 2010: Clegg Scores Second Win in Party Leaders Debate. An average of five polls conducted immediately after the Sky TV Leaders Election debate on Thursday night put Nick Clegg as the winner, with all instant polls showing him ahead of Gordon Brown. After the Foreign Affairs-led debate from Bristol dominated by issues like Iraq, immigration and climate change, Nick Clegg won 3 of the 5 polls on the night, building on his position after the first debate. Wed 21st Apr 2010: Second Party Leaders' TV debate: Foreign Affairs. The second Party Leaders Debate is taking place this Thursday starting at 8pm on Sky News. Nick Clegg, Gordon Brown and David Cameron will again be going head to head in a TV debate in the run up to the General Election on May 6th, this time leading on Foreign Affairs. Fri 16th Apr 2010: Nick Clegg Storms First Ever Party Leaders Debate. The polls following the first ever Party Leaders General Election debate on ITV are showing that Nick Clegg has won a convincing victory over David Cameron and Gordon Brown. The debate was the first ever Leaders debate during a UK General Election campaign, and the pollsters are giving it as a big victory for Nick Clegg and the Liberal Democrats. Thu 15th Apr 2010: First Party Leaders' TV debate: Domestic Affairs. Tonight on ITV, Nick Clegg, Gordon Brown and David Cameron will be going head to head in a TV debate. This is the first of three debates that will be taking place in the run up to the General Election on May 6th. Wed 14th Apr 2010: Fairness - The Liberal Democrat Manifesto Launch. Nick Clegg has launched the Liberal Democrat General Election manifesto. The manifesto sets out four clear priorities of fair taxes, a fair chance for every child, a fair economy, and a fair deal by cleaning up politics. Mon 12th Apr 2010: Apply for a Postal Vote Now: Deadline 20th April. With the General Election on 6th May, there is still time to arrange a postal vote. Voting by post is an easy and convenient way of voting if you are unable to get to the polling station on polling day - for any reason. Tue 6th Apr 2010: The campaign to elect Kevin Lang as the new local MP for Edinburgh North and Leith has already come under the national spotlight, just hours after Prime Minister Gordon Brown named the date of the General Election for Thursday 6th May. On the doorsteps, I'm still met with frowns of puzzlement. At least most people now know there's a council by-election on but no one has yet offered me an answer to the question, "What are we going to do about the cuts ?" Fri 27th Aug 2010: What has the Council ever done for us? asks John Knox (and finds quite a long answer). "What has the Council ever done for us ? " I thought I might be asked the Monty Python question at some point in this by-election campaign, so I decided to find out. I looked up the chief executive's latest progress report, a document which contains a good deal of council-speak, pre-action plans and strategies but it also has a lot of real achievements. It shows that the Lib-Dem/SNP coalition, using money from the Labour government (as was) in Westminster and the SNP government at Holyrood has got on with the job of running this city. Everyone can claim a little credit, and most of all the council workers and the tax-payers. Wed 18th Aug 2010: Mike Pringle Visits Threatened Laboratory. Mike Pringle visited staff at the Howdenhall Road Forensic Science Laboratory in Edinburgh today to discuss the possible implications of the SPSA Forensic Service Modernisation Options Paper. Mon 9th Aug 2010: Canvass Returns - John Knox blog. Canvassing in the immediate aftermath of a general election is like asking people to fill out a course assessment form. Fri 30th Jul 2010: Mike Pringle Backs Petition to Stop Airport Drop Off Charge. Mike Pringle MSP has backed a campaign lead by Edinburgh West MSP Margaret Smith and MP Mike Crockart to stop Edinburgh Airport to introducing a £1 charge for dropping off passengers at its terminal building by car. Mon 26th Jul 2010: From the Campaign Trail - Local Campaigner John Knox Blogs from the Liberton Gilmerton By-Election. I approach this campaign a little like David approached Goliath. The Labour Party, who gained most votes in this ward at the recent election, is now calling on someone to challenge its might in Liberton/Gilmerton. Tue 13th Jul 2010: Lib Dems select former BBC journalist John Knox to fight by-election. Edinburgh South Liberal Democrats have selected John Knox to be their candidate in the forthcoming Liberton/ Gilmerton Ward by-election. Mon 14th Jun 2010: Pringle Backs Parent Consortium in Bid to Halt School Closure. Mike Pringle MSP has backed a parent led consortium bidding to halt the closure of St. Margarets School in a move that has secured the backing of teachers and pupils. The parents are hoping to raise £2 million to secure the future of the school. Fri 4th Jun 2010: Open Surgeries Postponed until Friday 11th June. Please be aware that Mike Pringle MSP's regular open surgeries at 4 Grange Road and Morrisons will be postponed until Friday 11th to allow Mike to attend a family wedding. Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience this may cause. Fri 28th May 2010: Victory for Liberal Democrats as ID cards to be scrapped within 100 days. The Coalition Government today announced that ID cards are to be scrapped for British citizens within 100 days. The Liberal Democrats have campaigned against the introduction of ID cards since they were first announced by the previous Labour Government. Thu 27th May 2010: James Gillespie's High School Renewal Project Under Way. Work has started on the design phase for the renewal of James Gillespie's High School and the plans are already shaping up to be very exciting. However before work can being it must be decided where pupils displaced by the building work are to study during the construction period. Mon 24th May 2010: New Council Houses for Gracemount approved by Councillors. Members of Council's Development Management Sub-Committee have given approval for the final planning application for the first construction phase of the 21st Century Homes project in South Edinburgh. Permission was given for the first 99 homes to be built all of which will be affordable with 67 council homes for rent, 20 for mid rent and 12 for low cost home ownership. Fri 21st May 2010: Local people welcome new traffic lights at Mayfield Road and West Savile Terrace. Local people and Sciennes parents have welcomed the switch on of the new traffic signals at the junction of Mayfield Road and West Savile Terrace. A full set of traffic signals have now been installed as the junction was flagged up as an area with a higher than anticipated number of personal injury collisions, particularly involving cyclists. Wed 19th May 2010: Nick Clegg sets our radical plans for political reform. Lib Dem Leader and Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg announces the biggest shake up of British democracy since the Great Reform Act of 1832. Speaking at a college in north London Nick said, "I have spent my whole political life fighting to open up politics.
